Tile and laminate, oh my oh my!

Kicking off where I last was. MORE BATHROOM WORK!

From this drab and totally destroyed junk to...

TILE!

More tile!

And laminate flooring!

My hands are covered in semi-hardened flooring glue... can't type, must shower.

Tomorrow... grout and I start working on my bathroom counter.

The dog days of drywall

Things have been slow as I work on stuff that needs to sit overnight before working on it again and or stuff that I just have no idea how to do. See: shower pan, drywalling, taping and mudding.

Finally, FU@*!NG FINALLY I have the shower pan ready for tile. After so much messing around and many many f@&k ups I have it ready. More pictures were taken of this process but I am not sharing, bad memories, very bad memories.

Drywalling! and a shot of my new (built in 68') table saw.

Awwww, yeah!

Also, you see that wall to the back at the right? That wall is earmarked for the picture below. I even added additional support so I could hang it right in the middle of the wall.

The sink gets some Jarret time

Another project that I have been putting aside is the re-finishing of the badass antique sink that I bought for fifty bucks.

Cleaned up, with the floor stain spatter sanded off.

One of the drains came out with no problem... the other is being a little bitch and just might need a hack saw to make it sing.

Dent's and scrapes all over the place but nothing that I can't fix.

The sink basins are hooped and much sanding is needed.

It's humble start. Old and rusty.

Windows are almost all replaced.

Well, in a week where I was doing mostly small time consuming jobs, I didn't get a whole bunch of stuff done that is exciting to report. I did however stop the roof leak and am almost done my shower pan of a thousand headaches.

Today was another window day and now that I have a table saw it made framing in windows so much easier.

I have been dreading the removal of one of the bedroom windows so I could use it in the hallway/ kitchen area because it was the only one where it looked like I could do some serious damage with one wrong wrecking bar move.

First the busted up old window came out, an easy task as no ladders were needed.

Boarded up old window spot. I took this out because it was taking up some needed wall space in the bedroom and it took away even more view of the trailer trash goings on.

New window framed with the help of the table saw.

Boarded up and ready for siding. (Next year)

All in all I am impressed with how well my window installing has gone. I had never done anything like it previously and in the end I didn't do too bad.

The front windows again. I am noticing that the place is much easier to keep warm now that I don't have a plethora of GAPING HOLES all over the place.

When it rains, it leaks.

I'm not going to lie, being on the roof of anything makes me feel all nervous and stuff, so the idea of going on top of the Commodore pretty much made me clam up like John Goodman at a salad bar. None the less, it had to be done and with the weather barely getting over 10 these days I had to take a look at the roof that I knew had leaks. Initially I figured the main issue would be at the joint for the addition and the trailer but once I manned up and crawled up there I saw that the issue really wasn't all that bad.

This is the vent for the septic and at some point somebody worse at home repairs than I am decided to seal it up with bathroom silicone. After seeing that and rambling on about how somebody has to be seriously dense to use that stuff on their roof I pretty much just lathered a layer of roofing tar over the entire area. My neighbour is a roofer by trade and helped me out from the ground (few too many beers in him by that time).

After sealing that up I had a bunch of tar left so why the hell not? I lathered that sticky junk on all the seams that looked like water could get into then lathered some more.

Trowels, that's what the can said to use... I put on a nitrate glove and finger tarred it all.

Lastly, I keep forgetting to post pics of the only square feature in the place... the furnace surround!

Finally a day to work.

After more than a week since I was able to put some serious work on the Commodore I was glad to have a Sunday afternoon to actually get some stuff done.

The entire East wall is now dry walled and I finally got the new window put into the kitchen. With that I have enough roughed into the kitchen to start planning what I need for countertops and such.

Picked up from the as-is at IKEA. An Akurum cabinet that will be in the yet to be finished laundry area.

Where the sink will go.
And... I stole a mitre saw from my dad.
